Mystery solved? Hummingbird Moths or Hummingbirds
I think we found our only clue as to whether the critters in my previous video were birds or moths. Kind of wild that it can be so hard to tell the difference between a bug and a bird! First video: ua-cam.com/video/HIuQrew3CUY/v-deo.html

Part 1: ua-cam.com/video/AheHnYIiFTY/v-deo.html I love this Begonia 'Cachuma' so much so I was worried when it really started going downhill after being indoors through the hot summer and cold winter. I wasn't watering it enough and it wasn't getting enough light. After moving it back outside, repotting it with some fresh soil and a bit of fertilizer, and giving it regular water, it is bouncing...

My Alluaudia dumosa 'Good Stick plant' has always been a very slow growing dude, hence the joke 'good stick plant.' It's funny that some folks 💭 they 👀 like butts🤭.Actually to me the varieties that have a little tiny slit/hole in the middle remind me of birth as the new leaves emerge, it's quite beautiful in my humble opinion😊.Great informative video, now I won't be afraid to try ordering some of these fascinating plants.I wonder if they ever require fertilizer🤔?

    Hey! I have the smallest cutting of this, like an inch from the top that had broke off from my friends cactus and I’m worried it’s not going to survive, I let it callus before I put it on a draining mix, and it’s been 2-3 weeks and I gave it the tiniest bit of water bc the “boobis” are shriveling at the bottom, what should I do? Should I refrain from watering it for longer? I have it in a indirect bright light, it’s not too hot in my plant room either 😢

    • @SucsForYou
      @SucsForYou 3 дні тому

      Hola! So it's not going to put down roots and continue growing as a normal cactus form. It could put out some offsets from the areoles where it's cut. For now I would try to get some roots on it. Give it some heat outside and bright light - no direct sun because it could burn or struggle in the heat. I don't think it will grow fast enough to survive without natural light. Water enough to just moisten the top inch or so of potting mix. It will wick down and hopefully tease out some roots in a few weeks...

    These are beautiful hummingbird moths, Andrea.. ❤ I never saw so many all at once! In my garden here in Italy I am thrilled when I see just one or two.. but they are of course more abundant in North America.. Hummingbird moths are smaller in size, at 1 to 2 inches long. Hummingbirds measure 3 to 4 inches long.. so quite a size difference.. Really enjoyed seeing this! 🥰🙋🏻‍♀️

      Seeing so many at once is what really made me think they were hummingbirds! I've only seen one type of these moths several years ago. Hopefully they will come back this evening so I can try to get better video. I think they skip a day so the flowers have time to build up their nectar supply :)
